Toros Top Blizzard in OT

Alexandria, MN- The Mason City Toros finished their weekend trip to Alexandria in style, defeating the NA3HL’s reigning West Division Champion Blizzard in overtime, with a 2-1 final. 

Each team recorded a goal in the opening period. Jack Carter opened the night 3:37 into the first. Dominic Thomas responded 9:41 into the frame for his 7th goal and 12th point of the season. 

Neither team recorded a goal through the second or third period. Devin Peck and Nolan LaCosse held their own in the Mason City and Alexandria net respectively all the way until just 17 seconds were left in the extra session. Toros defenseman Miles Berg jumped off the bench and punched a shot home to land the first goal of his season and the first overtime win of the season for the Mason City Toros. 

Peck stopped 29 of 30 shots in the Mason City net. 

LaCosse stopped 32 of 34 shots in the Alexandria net. 

The Toros improved to 7-3. Mason City sits in second place in the NA3HL’s West Division with 14 points, just one behind the Rochester Grizzlies. 

Mason City hits the road next weekend for two games against the defending Fraser Cup Champion Granite City Lumberjacks. Puck drops at Sports Arena East in Sauk Rapids, MN, on both Friday, October 20th, and Saturday, October 21st, at 7:30 PM.
