Toros Stampede Through Blizzard

Sep 23, 2023

The Toros stampeded to a 5-2 victory over the visiting Alexandria Blizzard on Saturday. The Blizzard would open the scoring, but the Toros would answer back quickly.  At the 14:24 mark of the first Luke Robertson would send a shot on net from the point where a waiting Aaron Sawick was sitting back door to deposit the puck and tie the game up.  Later on in the 1st, Andrew Ralston would take a Dominick Thomas pass on the breakaway and would put a shot just over the glove side of the Alexandria netminder to take a 2-1 lead.

Later on in the second, Jordan Newpower would score a highlight reel goal when Zach Laruila won the puck off the draw.  Newpower took a quick whack at it and sent the puck right to the back of the net to give the Toros a 3-1 lead.

The Toros would extend their lead in the 3rd when Aaron Sawick intercepted an Alexandria pass.  Sawicki would find a streaking Dominick Despenas who found Marcus Fritel on the far side.  Fritel would fire one over the far stick side of net minder Lacosse to extend the lead to 4-2.  The Toros would add one more before the end of the night when Luke Robertson would fire the puck down the ice into an empty net to secure the Toros victory by a final of 5-2.

Up next for the Toros is a road game against Wilmar on September 30th.  The puck drop is slated for 7:10 P.M. Live streaming coverage is available on NAHLtv.com
