The Mason City Toros scored twice in the second period but could not sweep the weekend series against the Alexandria Blizzard as they fell, 5-2, on Sunday night at the Mason City Arena.
Sota Isogai and Cullen Hogan scored late in the second period to cut the deficit to one, but the Toros could not overcome a three-goal deficit. Alexandria scored twice in the first and added another goal early in the second before Mason City got on the board. After opening the game with a shorthanded goal the Blizzard scored two power-play goals to take a commanding lead.
Mason City is on the road this weekend to face the Minnesota Loons on Friday and Saturday with both games beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Toros return home on Nov. 26 against the Willmar WarHawks.
