Toros Shut Out Steel

BOX SCORE

Cal Levis scored twice and Owen Carlson turned aside all 27 shots to lead the Mason City Toros to a 5-0 win over the New Ulm Steel on Saturday night at the New Ulm Civic Center.

The Toros earned their fourth shutout victory of the season, all of which have come in the last two months, to pick up their fourth win in as many meetings against the New Ulm Steel this year.

Cullen Hogan scored his team-leading fourth shorthanded goal of the season at 1:07 of the second. The tally also marked his 19th of the season to give him the fourth-most goals on the team.

Levis scored early in the third period and then again late. Nathan Gilleshammer scored in between Levis’s two goals and Rex Staudacher scored his team defensemen-leading sixth goal of the season in the first period.

The Toros face the Steel again on Tuesday night at the Mason City Arena in a makeup of a game originally scheduled for Jan. 14 but was postponed due to transportation issues. The puck drops at 7 p.m. and all tickets are $5 except for top shelf and glass seats, which run at $10. Tickets can be purchased at masoncitytoros.com.
