Toros Set Season-Highs, Beat Loons

The Mason City Toros picked up their fifth win in as many meetings against the Minnesota Loons with an 11-2 victory on Friday night at the Breezy Point Hockey Center. 

The Toros’ 11 goals, five goals in the first period and five different multi-goal scorers all set season-best marks. Carter Newpower, Jack Campion, Cullen Hogan, Colin Hedland and Luke Robertson all scored two goals apiece. 

Mason City got off to a commanding 5-0 lead going into the first intermission for its most productive period of the season. The only two goals allowed came in the second. 

Every player recorded at least one point and Campion, Newpower and Ryan Kaspar all recorded four-point efforts with all of Kaspar’s points coming on assists. 

The Toros picked up their seventh consecutive road victory with Friday night’s win. Mason City looks to move to 6-0 against Minnesota tomorrow with another 7:30 p.m. game.
