Blake Ulve and Ethan Peterson both recorded multi-assist games as the Mason City Toros defeated the New Ulm Steel, 3-1, on Friday night at Mason City Arena.
Luke Robertson, Carter Newpower and Colin Hedland all scored as Mason City improved to 7-0 against New Ulm this season and can sweep the season series with a win Saturday night. The win marked the Toros’ seventh consecutive on home ice.

Newpower scored his 34th of the season 4:04 later to give Mason City a 2-0 lead. Newpower remains second in the NA3HL in points with 83 and is four back of Gillette’s Declan Young.
Colin Hedland added insurance with a slick dangle and a blistering shot from the left wing circle in the third to add to the lead and his score his team-defensemen-leading eighth goal of the season.
New Ulm got its only goal of the game at the 16:34 mark of the second when Gus Cantwell scored his team-leading 14th goal of the season on a two-on-one breakaway.
