Toros Knock Off Rochester Sunday Night

Jack Campion scored the game-winning goal midway into the third period and the Mason City Toros defeated the Rochester Grizzlies, 4-3, on Sunday night at the Mason City Arena.

Campion’s 20th of the season came on the power play at the 9:35 mark to break a deadlock and give the Toros their second power-play goal of the game.

Carter Newpower scored a pair of goals in the first period to record his third consecutive multi-goal game, his fourth straight game with a goal and his ninth multi-goal game of the season.

Sota Isogai scored Mason City’s other goal, which game at the 18:26 mark of the third period to tie the game back up exactly two minutes after Rochester took its only lead of the game.

Mason City picked up its fourth consecutive win and will face the Grizzlies again on Saturday but first faces the Willmar WarHawks this coming Friday at the Willmar Civic Center Arena. The Toros put their eight-game road winning streak on the line for the pair of road games.
