Toros Host School Day Game vs Rochester

Nov 7, 2023

Mason City, IA- The Mason City Toros hosted a special game School Day game at the Mason City Arena on Tuesday morning against the Rochester Grizzlies. When the puck dropped at 11:30 AM, the stands were filled with wonderful fans from schools covering all different parts of North Iowa. Multiple elementary schools in Mason City, St. Ansgar, the North Iowa Christian School, the Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock Consolidated School District, and the West Fork schools were all represented in force in downtown Mason City at a game that was free of charge for the kids.

The final score ended in an 8-2 Rochester Grizzlies win, but the fans brought the energy all game. Over 1,200 kids from the various schools that cover all portions of the North Iowa geographic area, combined with the loyal season ticket holders and sponsors who have enjoyed the Toros all season made this the largest and most energetic Toros crowd of the season!

Bryan Wiggins scored two goals in the third period on nifty rushes to give some offensive punch late in the game. Luke Robertson and Andrew Ralston assisted on the first goal while Zach Laurilla recorded the apple on Wiggins’ second.

Mason City sits at 9-8, and still firmly in control of a playoff spot in the NA3HL’s West Division.

The Toros head on the road this weekend for two games against the Minnesota Loons in Breezy Point, MN. The next home game is the day before Thanksgiving when the Rochester Grizzlies come back to the Mason City Arena for another duel with the Toros.

The Toros want to extend a warm thank you to all the amazing kids who came and enjoyed a day with us at the Mason City Arena, and we hope we can keep entertaining you all season.
