The Mason City Toros host the Minnesota Loons this Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. both nights at the Mason City Arena.
These will be the final two regular-season meetings between the two teams. Mason City is 6-0 against Minnesota this season and is outscoring them, 46-9. The Toros have scored at least eight goals in every game against the Loons and held them to three of fewer goals each time. Mason City’s most recent game against Minnesota was on Dec. 4 when the Toros recorded an 8-0 win for their first shutout victory of the 2021-22 season.
Two of Mason City’s three hat tricks have come against the Loons and both occurred in the same game. Sota Isogai and Cal Levis both scored three times back on Oct. 22 in an 8-2 Toros victory.
Mason City is in the midst of a three-game winning streak after taking all three games against the New Ulm Steel on three different days in a weeks’ span from Jan. 29-Feb. 5.
Minnesota has struggled recently and is in the midst of a 10-game losing streak. The Loons haven’t won in the new year but ended 2021 on a high note but winning all three games that they played at the NA3HL Showcase in Blaine, Minn. Minnesota’s most recent victory came on Dec. 22, a 2-0 win over the St. Louis Jr. Blues.
