The Mason City Toros wrap up their regular season series with the New Ulm Steel this Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. both nights at the Mason City Arena.
The Toros are 6-0 against the Steel with four of those wins coming in the New Year. This weekend’s games will be the fifth and six against the Steel in the last seven weeks.
Mason City is outscoring New Ulm 32-7 and that includes shutting the Steel out in consecutive meetings on Jan. 15 and Jan. 29. New Ulm has scored just two goals in its last four games against Mason City.
The Toros put a six-game winning streak on the line this weekend. Their six consecutive wins streak was snapped last Sunday but Mason City has still won six consecutive home games. The last Toros’ loss at the Mason City Arena was on Black Friday, Nov. 26, against the Willmar WarHawks.
Mason City split a pair of games with the Alexandria Blizzard last weekend. Cullen Hogan recorded a hat trick last Saturday for the team’s sixth of the season. Luke Stevens and Blake Ulve scored twice last Sunday but the Blizzard struck three times in between to take the series finale.
Friday and Saturday’s game are part of Red, White and Booze Weekend. Fans can take advantage of $2 cans of Budweiser, Bud Light and Michelob Ultra. The Toros will also sport special red, white and blue jerseys that will be auctioned off after Saturday’s game. Tickets for both games can be purchased at the gate or at masoncitytoros.com.
