Toros Face Lumberjacks In West Finals

GAME NOTES

After sweeping the Willmar WarHawks in the West Division Semifinals the Mason City Toros will face the Granite City Lumberjacks this weekend in the West Division Finals.

The winner of this weekend’s best-of-three games series will advance to the Fraser Cup Championship Tournament.

The Toros defeated the WarHawks on consecutive nights with a 6-4 come-from-behind victory on March 10 and then a road 6-3 win on March 11. The Lumberjacks picked up a 9-1 win at home on Friday to open their series against the Alexandria Blizzard before wrapping it up the next night, 4-1, on the road.

Mason City took two-of-eight meetings against Granite City this season but those victories marked two of the Lumberjacks’ three losses to date. The two rivals most recently faced off on March 5 with the Toros claiming a 3-0 victory to give Granite City its only road loss so far.

Game 1 is Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Armadillo Deck Sports Arena. The Toros’ only home game of the series is the next day at 2:30 p.m. at the Mason City Arena. Game 3, if necessary, will be Sunday at 5 p.m. in Granite City. The winner of this series advances to the Fraser Cup Championship Tournament, which will be held March 23-27 at the St. Peters Rec-Plex in St. Peters, Mo.

Saturday’s game is the final home game of the 2021-22 season. Toros season-ticket holders receive free admission for Game 2 of the West Division Finals. Non-season-ticket holders can get in for $10 and kids tickets are $2. Domestic beers are available for $2 for the afternoon tilt. Tickets can be purchased at masoncitytoros.com.
