Toros Face Blizzard In Final Two Road Games

The Mason City Toros play their final two road games of the 2021-22 regular season this Saturday and Sunday against the Alexandria Blizzard at the Runestone Community Center.

The Toros are 5-1 against the Blizzard after opening the season with a pair of wins in the River City, taking both games at the end of December at Alexandria and splitting a pair of games at the Mason City Arena in mid-November. All six games have been decided by three goals-or-less with three games being decided by one goal, including the Toros’ 3-2 overtime victory on Dec. 30.

Mason City is coming off a 25-goal showing against the Minnesota Loons last weekend. The Toros posted a season-high in goals with a 15-1 win the first night before a 10-0 win last Saturday for their fifth shutout victory of the season. Mason City took all six games against Minnesota and improved to 25-8-1-0 in games against fellow West Division opponents.

Alexandria was set to play Friday night in Willmar for the start of a three-game weekend series against two different teams, but inclement weather postponed the first game of the weekend. The Blizzard sit fourth in the West and have already clinched a playoff spot. Unless they can overcome a seven-point difference between them and the WarHawks the Blizzard will face the Granite City Lumberjacks in the first round of the postseason.

Saturday’s game gets started at 7:10 p.m. before a 5:00 p.m. puck drop on Sunday. Both games can be watched on Hockey TV with an active subscription.
