The Toros continued their dominance over the Minnesota Loons in a 14-2 victory in front of a lively Mason City crowd on Friday night. Marcus Fritel opened the scoring ten minutes into the first when he redirected the puck past Josh Harden to put the Toros up 1-0. Brayden Fine extended the lead 28 seconds left in the period when the puck rolled off the heel of the stick right into the back of the net to put the Toros up 2-0. Jacob Miller added one more 17 seconds later, firing a sharp angle shot to record his first goal of his season and put the Toros up 3-0 at the end of the first period.
Mason City extended their control in the second when Jax Schauer unleashed a wicked slapshot to put the Toros ahead 4-0. Parker McInroy would get his first of the night as he would pick up a loose puck in front of the net and fire one over Jansen’s glove who would make his way to the crease at the start of the second. Both players would add one more each to put the Toros up 6-0 before Jacob Miller would take a one-time backhand from Dominic Thomas for his second of the night. One of the most exciting goals of the night came when David Loahr found a loose puck on the penalty kill and scored a short-handed breakaway when he crashed the net and was able to tuck the puck around Jansen to put the Toros up 9-1 at the end of the 2nd.
The Toros added five more tallies in the third. Parker McInroy recorded a hat trick. Carter Bollinger scored the first goal of his season. Brayden Fine notched the first multi-goal game of his season, and Jacob Miller added a second goal to his effort to secure a 14-2 victory. The Toros recorded 69 shots on goal through the night and recorded the second highest goal output of the season.
Devin Peck stopped 24 of the 26 shots from the Loons.
