Toros Deal Northeast Its First Loss

BOX SCORE

The Mason City Toros defeated the Northeast Generals, 5-2, in their second game of the NA3HL Showcase on Tuesday afternoon at the Super Rink in Blaine, Minn.

Andy Larsen scored a pair of goals and the Toros held off a late surge to snap the Generals’ 22-game winning streak.

Jack Campion scored the game-winning goal at the 4:08 mark of the third period. His 21st of the season was the Toros’ second 5-on-3 power play goal of the game after Sota Isogai scored late in the first period.

The Generals cut the deficit to one 3:21 after Campion scored but Sloth added an empty netter and Larsen scored in the final seconds to wrap up the win.

In a penalty-filled game that featured a combined 77 minutes, 58 of which belonged to Northeast, Mason City did allow a shorthanded goal but never trailed in Tuesday’s game.

The Toros look to post a perfect showing at the Showcase as they wrap it up against the Oregon Tradesman on Wednesday at 12:15 p.m.
