The Mason City Toros return from the holiday break to face the Alexandria Blizzard on Thursday and Friday at the Runestone Community Center at 7:10 p.m. both nights.
The Toros wrap up 2021 against the only divisional opponent who they have not traveled to yet. Mason City has twice hosted Alexandria and is 3-1 against them this year with the Blizzard’s win coming in the most recent meeting on Nov. 14.
These two games are the Toros’ first since the NA3HL Showcase last week in Blaine, Minn. Mason City won all three games at the Super Rink, defeating the Gillette Wild, Northeast Generals and Oregon Tradesmen. The Toros were one of six teams to post a perfect week at the Showcase.
One of the other teams to win all three of its games last week was Alexandria. The Blizzard defeated the Long Beach Sharks, Texas RoadRunners and Wausau Cyclones.
Sean Kenny leads Alexandria with 27 points and has scored in each of their last three games. He scored four goals at the Showcase after only scoring five in his first 22 games of the season.
Fans can catch both games on Hockey TV and follow along on Toros social media pages for in-game updates. The next Toros’ home game is Saturday, Jan. 8 at 3 p.m. against the Willmar WarHawks. Tickets can be purchased at masoncitytoros.com.
