Toros Claim OT Win in Peoria

Peoria, IL- The Mason City Toros claimed a thrilling victory over the Peoria Mustangs in overtime with a 4-3 final. 

The Toros jumped off the blocks quickly, getting a goal from Aaron Sawicki 1:52 into the game. Mason City piled up 12 total shots in the first period but only got the one first period goal through Mustangs goaltender Kason Yamada. 

The Mustangs answered back with two goals in the second period to take the lead. One of them from Paul Allison and the other from Massimo Polistina. Peoria’s offensive momentum carried into the third period with Anden Marceau recording his ninth goal of the year to extend the lead to 3-1.

Needing a comeback, the Toros found their rhythm. Miles Berg scored with 7:22 left. Then with only 3:48 remaining in regulation, Aaron Sawicki notched his second goal of the game to tie the score at 3-3. 

In the overtime, Mason City did not need much time. Jax Schauer scored his 17th goal of the season to end the night and extend his point streak to five games. 

The Toros face the Mustangs again on Saturday night. Puck drops at the Owens Center at 7PM.
