The Mason City Toros put their four-game win streak on the line this week as they face the Granite City Lumberjacks on Friday and Saturday at the Mason City Arena.
Mason City (7-3-0-0) has swept back-to-back weekend series against Willmar and Minnesota and has moved into second place in the NA3HL West Division and eight points behind Granite City.
Last weekend, the Toros put on a clinic offensively, scoring a combined 18 goals in a pair of wins. Sota Isogai scored four goals and added three assists in the two wins to earn the NA3HL’s West Division Player of the Week for Oct. 18-24.
Granite City (11-1-0-0) enters this weekend on a seven-game win streak that began on Oct. 2 with a win over the Toros. They are outscoring opponents 45-11 during this streak and have scored at least six goals in five straight games. The Lumberjacks’ only loss this season was on Oct. 1 vs Mason City.
Nicholas Richert leads the Lumberjacks with 17 points, 13 of which have been assists. He’s recorded four consecutive multi-point games and 12 points in his last five games.
The Lumberjacks defeated the New Ulm Steel, 7-2 and Willmar WarHawks, 7-4, last weekend. They were tied with Willmar, 4-4, after the WarHawks scored at 9:40 in the third, but Sean Davidson scored four minutes later and they added a pair of empty-netters.
