Mason City Toros Pack Out Arena with School Day Game!

Nov 8, 2023

Mason City, IA- The NA3HL’s Mason City Toros hosted a free School Day game on Tuesday, November 7th, at the Mason City Arena in front of over 1200 students in an electric atmosphere. The team hosted the Rochester Grizzlies on the ice and welcomed students from schools that covered all portions of the North Iowa geographic area, ranging from the Mason City Community School District to the North Iowa Christian School, to St. Anskar.

All in all, over 1,200 students enjoyed a game at the Mason City Arena at no charge to the schools or the students. These students, who ranged from the 3rd to 5th grade, were treated to a day of hard hits, goals, and entertainment on the ice, and the top flight atmosphere of the best arena in the NAHL and NA3HL.

Roosevelt Elementary School Fourth Grader Matt Pavlik and Principal Austin Peterson went on the ice to drop the game’s ceremonial first puck.  “A lot of the kids would never have attended a hockey game, and they all loved it,” said Principal Peterson. “It truly made a difference with our students and I bet so many more. A big thank you to players, coaches, and all the other staff involved.”

The goal of the school day game was to provide a new experience for the Mason City community, as well as create some new hockey players and figure skaters for the youth club and fans for the Bulls and Toros. All while  bringing  awareness to the  downtown arena.

“As a proud parent in this area, I know that our teams have the unique ability to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience,’ said North Iowa Bulls and Mason City Toros Director of Operations Ali Pargmann, “and we’re thrilled to have given those magnificent memories to our children. We look forward to more of these days in the future for more of our kids.”

North Iowa Bulls players  from the NAHL team joined in the fun at the Toros game, cheering on their friends, giving the kids hockey sticks, and livening the atmosphere for the kids of North Iowa.

“Our players loved playing with those kids in the audience,” said North Iowa Bulls and Mason City Toros Media Coordinator Chris Lynch, “and we’re thrilled to have given them the best school day they’ve ever had!”

The Toros and Bulls were happy to have provided the children of North Iowa with a wildly entertaining day at the Mason City Arena and are proud to represent Mason City, Iowa.
