Mason City, IA- Mason City Toros forward and Captain Marcus Fritel has earned his third Star of the Week honor as the Western Division’s Star of the Week this season.
In the two games this weekend, Fritel recorded four goals and five assists for nine points in a two game sweep over the St. Louis Jr. Blues. He scored two goals in each game and powered the Toros to an eight-goal outburst with four assists and six points. On the season, the Toros’ captain is the team’s leading scorer with 22 goals and 28 assists for 50 points in 29 games. He is the NA3HL’s seventh overall leading scorer and ninth overall leading goal scorer. The Elk River, MN, native leads all Western Division players in both categories. He also has the second most game winning goals of any NA3HL player with five.
“Marcus continues to deliver for us on and off the ice on a daily basis. His production is a correlation not only to his talent but his hard work and dedication to his teammates,” stated Toros’ Head Coach Mark Hicks.
Fritel’s honor is his third of the season, having previously been named the Division’s Star of the Week. It’s the fifth different week that a Toro has earned the Division’s top honor this season. Teis Larsen & Kellen Kantaris are the other two players to earn the honor.
Fritel’s performance has the Toros at third in the Western Division with a 15-13-3-1 record. They’ll take the ice next on January 17th against the Willmar WarHawks.
