Duckson Set To Return To Toros Next Year

The process of assembling the 2022-23 Mason City Toros has already begun with the conclusion of the 2021-22 season only a few days old. Forward Dylan Duckson from Mahtomedi, Minn., has signed an NA3HL tender agreement with the Toros for next season.

Duckson began the 2021-22 season with Mason City and played six games before suffering a season-ending injury. He recorded an assist in the first game of the season on Sept. 25 in an 8-5 win over Alexandria.

In three seasons with Mahtomedi High School from 2018-21 Duckson recorded 34 points, including a 10-goal junior year in 2019-20. He added a goal and two assists in the postseason as Mahtomedi won the Class A state championship.

Duckson posted his best offensive numbers at the 18U AAA level. He scored five goals and added eight assists in eight games with the Minnesota Magicians 18U team in 2019-20 and then scored three goals and added three assists in 13 games for the Blue Army 18U team the next year.

Duckson’s return to the Toros guarantees that a member of his family will play in the NA3HL’s West Division for a third consecutive season. His brother, Dallas, spent three seasons with the Alexandria Blizzard from 2018-21.

Toros head coach Nick Bruneteau foresaw Duckson filling a big role on this season’s team but is grateful to have him back next year.

“He would have been one of our best penalty killers, Bruneteau said. “Dylan is an extremely gritty forward, finishes every check and blocks shots. He was a great teammate, who guys loved. He stayed a part of the team all year after the injury by coming to playoff games and the league’s Showcase in December. Dylan always doubles our team energy. We’re excited to have him back and he is going to be a big part of our success next year.”
