Campion Scores Again, But Toros Fall to Rochester

Jack Campion’s second-period goal marked his fifth of the season and marked his fifth straight game scoring, but the Mason City Toros (3-2-0-0) dropped Friday night’s game, 9-4, to the Rochester Grizzlies (6-0-0-0) at Mason City Arena.

Campion picked up a goal and an assist and now leads the Toros with his five goals while also recording his third multi-point game of the season.

Mason City and Rochester combined to score eight goals in a high-flying second period but the Toros could not overcome being outscored 4-0 in the first period.

Anton Egle, Cal Levis and Rex Staudacher also scored for Mason City. Staudacher’s goal (third period) being the Toros’ only tally outside of the second period. The two teams combined to score four goals during a 2:06 stretch, including three goals in 1:01.

The Toros face the Grizzlies again on Saturday, this time on the road. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. at the Rochester Recreation Center.
