Mason City NA3HL Alumnus Defenseman Campbell Cichosz has signed a contract to play professional hockey for the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye, in Toledo Ohio.
Cichosz, an Albert Lea, Minnesota, native, made his junior hockey debut in Mason City in the 2019-20 season following a successful high school career at Albert Lea High School. Across parts of two seasons, Cichosz laced up for 52 games in which he scored 6 goals and 18 assists for 24 points. As a heavy blue liner in the 2020-21 season, Cichosz helped bring the Fraser Cup to Mason City for the fourth time in program history.

The next season, Cichosz earned a spot on the NAHL’s Anchorage Wolverines roster, where he played 54 games, scoring 6 goals and 26 assists for 32 points. His efforts earned a spot on the NAHL’s Midwest Division All-Star Team & 2022 Robertson Cup All-Tournament Team.
Following his junior hockey career, Campbell returned to southern Minnesota and played four NCAA Division I seasons for Minnesota State University-Mankato. In those four seasons, Cichosz skated in 149 games and helped the Mavericks win the CCHA Regular Season Championship three times (2023, 2025, 2026) and the CCHA Tournament Championship three times (2023, 2025, 2026). He wore an assistant Captain’s A in his final season, in which he played in all 40 Maverick games, scoring 4 goals and 10 assists for 14 points.
The Walleye, originally named the Toledo Storm, have played in the ECHL since 1991. In that time, the Walleye have three ECHL Regular Season Championships, most recently in 2022, seven postseason Division Championships, and three postseason Conference Championships, most recently in 2025. The team is affiliated with the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings & AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins.
Cichosz is the second Mason City NA3HL alumnus this season to sign a professional hockey contract with an NHL Affiliated team after Lucas Wahlin reported to the Manitoba Moose.
