Mason City, IA- The Mason City Toros started their weekend with a 3-1 victory over the Alexandria Blizzard on Friday night. Drew Blake led the way with a 40 save performance, only surrendering a single goal to Jack Dube in the first period while recording 21 saves in the first 20 minutes.
The second period saw the balance flip to the Toros’ side of the ledger behind a pair of Luke Robertson goals and a Dominic Thomas goal that served as the game’s ultimate winning blow. Jax Schauer recorded a pair of assists, aiding on each of Robertson’s goals.
Neither team generated much offense in the third period, with only eight shots between the units and one of the most important wins of the season for the Toros.
Mason City gets back to .500 on the season with a 17-17-2 record and sits at 36 points, good for 4th in the West Division and the final playoff spot in the division.
