Mar 24, 2026

Former Mason City NA3HL forward Carson Jones has signed a contract to play professional hockey for the Peoria Rivermen of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL).

Jones, a native of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, spent the 2020-21 season in Mason City and contributed to one of the best seasons that River City has ever enjoyed. In 30 games, Jones led the team in scoring with 20 goals and 21 assists for 41 points. He followed that up with 4 goals and 3 assists for 7 points in 10 postseason games to bring the Fraser Cup to the banks of the Winnebago River for the 4th time.

For his efforts that season, Jones was named First Team All NA3HL, First Team All Division in the West Division, the Western Division Forward of the Year, and was selected to the Fraser Cup Postseason All-Tournament Team.

Jones also spent two seasons playing in the NAHL for the Springfield Jr. Blues and ultimately played 107 NAHL games in Illinois’ capital city, recording 22 goals and 38 assists for 60 points.

Following the conclusion of his junior hockey career, Jones played four seasons of NCAA DIII Hockey at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He skated in 95 college games and scored 24 goals and 57 assists for 81 points.

The Rivermen are a successful program in the SPHL. In eleven completed seasons, the Rivermen have won their League’s Regular Season Championship six times and hoisted the President’s Cup as champions of the SPHL twice in the last five seasons.

Jones becomes the latest in a long and proud line of players who have come from Mason City’s NA3HL tradition to join the professional hockey ranks.
