Fritel Named Star of the Week for Second Straight Week

Dec 10, 2024

Mason City, IA- The Mason City Toros are thrilled that for the second week in a row, forward and Captain Marcus Fritel has been named as the West Division’s Star of the Week! This is the fourth different week in which a Toro has earned that honor. Teis Larsen and Kellen Kantaris are the other two players to earn that recognition this season.

Across the three games Mason City played for the week of December 2nd to 8th, Fritel recorded four goals and two assists for six points while leading Mason City to a pair of wins over the Willmar WarHawks on the road. Stretching back to the prior weekend, Fritel recorded seven goals and two assists for nine points in three straight games. Fritel is the Western Division’s leading goal scorer with 18 and the 12th leading goal scorer in the entire NA3HL. He’s also tied for the third most game-winning goals in the NA3HL with four. Across 24 games this season, Marcus leads the Toros with 18 goals and is second behind just Sam Menne with 17 assists for a team leading 35 points.

“Marcus continues to produce and give us a chance to win every night. He leads by example on and off the ice and that makes everyone’s job much easier, including mine,” stated Mason City Head Coach Mark Hicks.

The Toros are preparing to enter the 2024 NA3HL Showcase, where they will face three non-divisional opponents: The Wisconsin Woodsmen, the Bozeman Ice Dogs, and the Rochester Grizzlies between December 15th and 17th.
